With the Pot Plant Waterer you can go on holiday for a few weeks and not have to worry about getting a “plant sitter” to look after your pot plants. You can even set up the Pot Plant Waterer to look after your plants when you are at home, and reduce the worry of forgetting to water your plants.

This system allows your plants to draw water, as they need it; avoiding over watering your plants and preventing the soil from becoming soaking wet. (Which makes plants prone to disease and is the cause of root rot.)

How it works

The Pot Plant Waterer works by capillary action. It has four wicks contained in plastic tubes. A wick is placed in the soil of a pot and the other end, or base, is placed in a container of water. The container is not supplied but can be any container such as a pot or plastic ice cream container. Water then seeps from the water container to the soil. As the soil gets wet the transfer of water stops and then starts again as the soil dries. i.e. the plant decides how much water it needs.

The system of self-watering plants by wick watering is not new, but the Pot Plant Waterer allows you to employ this efficient system without having to buy special and expensive pots.

The wicks are made from mould resistant polypropylene material and have a high water transfer rate.

Each Pot Plant Waterer, with 4 tubes, will adequately water 4 x 25cm pots. For Pots larger than 25cm you may need two tubes per pot. For example one Pot Plant Waterer will do 1 x 30cm pot and 2 x 20cm pots.
